Written by Russian theatre practitioner Nikolai Pogodin, Aristocrats is a play set in the Belomor prison camp during the Stalin era and gave an insight into the challenges theatre faced at the time.
The play was directed by University of Hull lecturer Dr Amy Skinner, and her vision was realised by a group of talented students specialising in a range of areas.
Joao and Lucy had a tough job creating costumes that fit with the 'Russian gulag meets cabaret' style the director wanted, but managed to pull it off with little difficulty, and learnt how to create 1930s/40s victory rolls on a variety of hair types in a short space of time too!
